Andrew Lawrence

Andrew Lawrence is a Conservation Accredited Engineer and the co-leader of Arup’s specialist existing buildings team in London, serving as a global timber specialist. Currently, they hold the position of Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Timber Engineering at the University of Cambridge, where they introduce timber design into the curriculum. Andrew began their career as a structural engineer in 1993, later specializing in timber and existing buildings from 2002, and has conducted structural safety assessments for a diverse range of structures worldwide. They are committed to enhancing structural safety and sustainability in construction through their roles on various committees, including the HSE Building Advisory Committee and several BSI and Eurocode committees across Europe.
