Ian Trout, P.E. is a Senior Engineer with the Streets team at Arup, focusing on enhancing urban livability through bicycle and public transport projects. With a multicultural background and proficiency in multiple languages, Ian is passionate about transportation, particularly transit operations, high-speed rail, and bicycle infrastructure. Ian previously served as an Assistant Engineer at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, where significant projects included the Better Market Street initiative and COVID-19 transportation response strategies. Ian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Sustainable Urban Development from Portland State University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Transportation, Infrastructure, and Logistics at Technische Universiteit Delft.
