James Francisco, AICP, is a seasoned urban designer and planner with extensive experience in leading innovative and sustainable designs in New York City. At Arup, since 2010, James has served as the NYC Masterplanning & Urban Design Leader, guiding a multidisciplinary team on notable projects such as the Houston Theater District Masterplan and the Meatpacking District Pedestrian-Priority Plan. Additionally, James acted as the Americas Active Mobility Leader, promoting best practices across the region. Selected as a Forefront Fellow by the Urban Design Forum in 2023, James is dedicated to fostering emerging leaders in urban design. Previous roles include project partnerships with BIG and HASSELL, contributing to significant urban design projects, and earlier professional experience with Nettletontribe Architects focused on diverse architectural projects. James holds a Master's and Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Sydney.
