Melissa Burton is a seasoned professional in the field of engineering and design, currently serving as the Total Design Leader for the Americas Region and as a Fellow at Arup since May 2017. With a focus on guiding services and innovation strategies, Melissa champions Total Design as a collaborative approach. Prior roles include Principal, Canada Operations Director, and Consulting Practice Leader at BEVERLY WILLIS ARCHITECTURE FOUNDATION, INC., and Global Head of Civil Structures at BMT, where Melissa successfully established and grew a technical office in New York City. Additionally, Melissa holds trustee and board positions with the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation and the Applied Technology Council. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Wind Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a BASC in Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
