Raphael Sperry is a leading architect and advocate for social equity and sustainability in the built environment. Currently serving as the Global Social Equity & Social Value Skills Leader at Arup, Raphael focuses on enhancing project outcomes for disadvantaged communities while also leading the Americas Region Social Equity Skills. With extensive experience at Arup, including roles as Associate Principal and Senior Consultant, Raphael specializes in complex green building and infrastructure projects for clients such as San Francisco International Airport and the City and County of San Francisco. As President of Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility, Raphael leads initiatives like the “Alternatives to Incarceration / Prison Design Boycott Campaign.” Additionally, Raphael contributes to academia as an Adjunct Professor at California College of the Arts, instructing courses related to integrated building technology and design principles. Raphael holds an M.Arch. from Yale School of Architecture and a B.A. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Harvard University.
