Shirui Hao, PhD, is currently a Senior Data Scientist at Arup, having joined the company in October 2025. Previously, Shirui held the position of Geospatial Scientist at NGIS from March 2023 to October 2025, where automated remote sensing pipelines were developed for real-time monitoring of water surface areas using Google Earth Engine and Google Cloud Platform. Shirui's academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Modelling and Sensing from the University of Melbourne, where a doctoral research role and academic tutoring in Remote Sensing were also undertaken. Additionally, Shirui is pursuing a second PhD in Natural Sciences at RWTH Aachen University, and holds a Master's degree in Quantitative Remote Sensing from Beijing Normal University, alongside a Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Science and Cartography from East China Normal University.
