Senior Principal Scientist, Computational Protein Design at Arzeda

Rolando Rodriguez has a wealth of work experience in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and computational protein design. Rolando began their career in 1989 as Senior Director Program at Heber Biotec S.A. (Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology), where they led projects in the research and development of vaccines, pharmaceuticals, agricultural biotechnology, and diagnostics systems. Rolando also created and headed the Project Management Office, and developed the commercial branch, achieving a revenue of over USD 400 million per year. In 2000, they began working as a Visiting Professor at the University of Havana and Radboud University Nijmegen, where they improved protein engineering and molecular design. From 2008 to 2021, they held various roles at the National Institute of Nephrology, University of Havana, Repositive, DNAdigest, GLG, FedTech, and Arzeda. In these positions, they fostered businesses between the UK, US, Latin America, Africa, and Europe; mentored Deep Tech entrepreneurs; consulted as a healthcare, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology subject matter expert; and introduced massive translational discovery workflows. In 2021, they began their current role as Principal Scientist, Computational Protein Design at Arzeda.

Rolando Rodriguez completed their Master of Science in Chemistry from the University of Havana in 1989. Rolando then went on to pursue Doctoral Studies in Protein Chemistry and Structure at Osaka University, which they completed in 1994.
