Vera Ivanova

Music Composer

Vera Ivanova serves as an Associate Professor at Chapman University since July 2007, focusing on music theory, composition seminars, and orchestration. In addition, Ivanova has been an instructor at CMOC Pre-College Division since September 2018 and teaches music theory at The Colburn Academy since August 2013. With a prolific career as a music composer since 1995, Ivanova creates contemporary concert music for various ensembles and collaborates with artists across diverse mediums. Previous academic roles include Assistant Professor of Music Theory/Composition at Syracuse University (2006-2007) and development work at Eastman School of Music (2004-2006). Early in the career, Ivanova coordinated international tours for The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and worked on acousmatic compositions at the Theremin Center. Educational achievements include two Ph.D. degrees in Music Composition from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, along with a Master's and Bachelor's degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Moscow State Conservatory respectively.
