Manager, Market Intelligence at Ascend Analytics

Connor Donovan has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Connor currently works at Ascend Analytics as a Senior Energy Analyst since April 2023. Before that, they held another role at Ascend Analytics as an Energy Analyst II starting from April 2021. Prior to their tenure at Ascend Analytics, Connor worked at the International Energy Agency (IEA) as a Power Generation Analyst from February 2019 to November 2020. At IEA, they played a key role in modeling global energy futures and conducting policy analyses, with a focus on offshore wind and bioenergy sectors. Connor also worked at Ecostrat Inc. as the Project Manager of the Biomass Advisory Group, where they conducted due diligence on bioenergy projects in North America. Their responsibilities included creating tools to estimate biomass generation and demand, as well as assessing the competitiveness of bioenergy projects. Before that, they served as a Senior Construction Inspector at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and WSP | MMM Group, overseeing various civil works projects. Connor also gained experience as a Testing Engineer at Multimatic and as a Sales Associate at Running Room, where they provided customer service and sales support.

Connor Donovan has a diverse education history that spans multiple fields of study. In 2013, they obtained the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from The Duke of Edinburgh's Award. From 2013 to 2017, they attended Queen's University, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) with a focus on Civil Engineering. In 2016, they also completed courses accredited to their B.A.Sc. designation at the University of Canterbury. Following their undergraduate studies, from 2017 to 2018, they attended the University of Toronto's School of Continuing Studies, where they pursued studies in Accounting & Finance. Later, from 2018 to 2020, they attended Sciences Po, focusing on International Energy with a regional focus on China, earning a Masters of International Energy degree. Currently, from 2020 to 2021, they are studying at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, pursuing a Master of Management Analytics degree, specializing in Business & Data Science.
