Christopher Progen

Christopher Progen has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Christopher currently works as a Product Development Engineer at Ascensus Specialties since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Kraton Corporation from 2019 to 2023 as a Process Safety Engineer, where they managed the implementation of process safety management programs and held several key positions such as site management of change coordinator and root cause analysis champion.

Before joining Kraton, they were a Production Engineer at Eastman Chemical Company from 2017 to 2019, providing technical support and serving as a division representative for a debottlenecking project.

Christopher began their career at ExxonMobil in 2012, where they held various positions including Equipment Strategy Engineer, Halobutyl Contact Engineer, and Adhesions Contact Engineer.

Christopher also gained valuable research experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Virginia Tech, from 2010 to 2012. Their research focused on wetting properties of amino acid films and synthesis of antimicrobial peptide films.

Additionally, Christopher gained industry exposure through internships at Celanese and Altria in 2010. At Celanese, they worked as an Emulsions Process Engineer Co-op, and at Altria, they served as an R&D Modeling and Simulations Intern.

Christopher Progen attended Virginia Tech from 2009 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Engineering. During the same time period, they also earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Chemistry from Virginia Tech.
