Mark Banham has a diverse work experience spanning over multiple industries and roles. Mark began their career as a Method Development Chemist, Product Specialist, and Technical Representative at Nalco, where they gained experience in HPLC method development and marketing. Mark then moved to USF Water Purification, where they worked as a Sales Representative and managed lab distributors. After that, they joined Whyte Chemicals Ltd as a Sales Executive, where they focused on market development and selling commodity chemicals.
In 2004, Mark took a career sabbatical and worked in the education sector, supporting high school students with social and behavioral issues. Mark then returned to the chemical industry and joined Sigma-Aldrich as an Account Manager, responsible for selling research essentials to universities and research institutes. Mark later became a Key Account Manager at Sigma-Aldrich, managing academic accounts in the North UK and developing customer-supplier partnerships.
After Sigma-Aldrich was acquired by Merck KGaA, Mark continued their role as a Senior Key Account Manager, expanding their responsibilities to include the broader Merck life sciences portfolio. Mark successfully managed key business relationships and grew sales with key accounts in the UK pharma, CRO, and biotech research space.
In 2022, Mark joined eMolecules as a Scientific Sales Director, where they played a crucial role in simplifying the buying process for scientists in the drug discovery community. Currently, they are employed at Ascensus Specialties as a Senior Account Manager - EMEA, supporting key clients in the EMEA region in the Life Sciences market sector.
Throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated a strong combination of scientific selling, strategic account management, and customer relationship building skills.
From 1984 to 1987, Mark Banham attended the University of Leeds, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry.
