John Tekippe

John TeKippe has extensive experience in fire service and emergency management, currently serving as Fire Chief at Des Moines Fire Department since July 1996, following a tenure as a Captain at the same department. Previously, John TeKippe worked as a Fire Fighter at West Des Moines Fire Department from January 1993 to July 1996 and served as an Electronics Technician in the US Navy from 1986 to 1988. Academic credentials include a Master of Public Administration from Drake University, Executive Fire Officer designation from the National Fire Academy, EMT-Paramedic certification from Mercy College of Health Sciences, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Iowa State University, and EMT-Ambulance certification from Mary Greeley Medical Center.
