Peter Stein

Peter Stein currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of ASIFMA, a position held since February 2024. Prior to this role, Peter held the title of CEO and Managing Director at the Private Wealth Management Association from December 2016 to February 2024, where responsibilities included overseeing the organization’s activities and facilitating dialogue with key stakeholders in the private wealth management sector in Hong Kong. Peter's extensive experience at UBS from 2012 to 2016 included roles such as Head of Regulatory Advisory and Relations, Asia Pacific, and Head of Group Governmental Affairs, Asia Pacific, focusing on regulatory relationships and policy developments in the region. Earlier in Peter's career, significant contributions were made at The Wall Street Journal, serving as the Hong Kong Bureau Chief and managing editor of The Asian Wall Street Journal, where coverage spanned finance, markets, and major socio-political events in Asia. Peter holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Yale University and has also studied at the University of Tübingen.
