Mark Mitchell

Mark Mitchell currently serves as Chief Nuclear Officer at Valar Atomics since April 2024. Mark has been a member of the Nuclear Codes & Standards Committees at ASME since October 2003, focusing on the development of nuclear codes and standards for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), particularly High-Temperature Gas-cooled Reactors (HTGRs). Previously, Mark held the position of President at USNC-Power from November 2016 to February 2024 and was a board member at Global First Power Ltd. from June 2020 to March 2023. Mark also worked as Director of Engineering Consulting at EON Consulting from June 2012 to October 2016, focusing on asset performance improvement and sustainability. Mark owned BUFO Technology cc from April 2000 to June 2012, managing business development. Earlier experience includes roles as a CSC Design Engineer at PBMR (Pty) Ltd and as an Engineer at MMS Technology (Pty) Ltd. Mark holds a B.Eng in Mechanical Engineering and a B.Eng (Hons) in Engineering from the University of Pretoria.
