Joost van Ooijen

Joost van Ooijen currently serves as the Head of Legal HQ and Deputy General Counsel at ASML, a position held since September 2025. Prior to this role, Joost held various senior legal positions at AkzoNobel from May 2014 to August 2025, including Deputy General Counsel for the Europe, Middle East & Africa region and General Counsel ad interim. Joost's legal career began at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where a tenure from March 2001 to April 2014 focused on contractual intellectual property law, ICT law, commercial contracts, sourcing, and e-commerce as a Senior Associate and Lawyer. Educational qualifications include studies at Grotius Academie in 2005, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 1999 to 2000, and University of Amsterdam from 1994 to 2000, following an earlier education at Stedelijk Gymnasium Arnhem, culminating in a VWO degree.
