Chris Weiss is a Machine Shop Manager at Aspect Biosystems. Chris has over 10 years of experience in manufacturing and product development. Chris has a strong background in CNC machining and has been involved in the development of 2 consumer products, the OnTarget and Aurora instruments. Chris has produced high quality prototypes during the development of the OnTarget Platform and has provided valuable feedback to engineers. Chris has also programmed and operated in-house CNC Milling Machines, CNC Lasers, and CNC Waterjet cutters to provide fast turnarounds on proof of concept parts. In addition, Chris has aided in the design of prototypes through to the final version of instrument. Chris has also constructed assemblies containing 2000+ parts with integrated mechanical, electrical, thermal and pneumatic systems; enabled assembly directly from CAD, delivered alpha systems weeks early. Chris has built, tested and calibrated over 50 Ontarget and 70 Aurora instruments as well as many breadboard special use instruments and prototype machines. Chris has also developed detailed and easy to use build documents outlining all processes of the OnTargets and Aurora mechanical, electrical assemblies. Prior to joining Aspect Biosystems, Chris worked as a toolmaker at Avcorp Industries for over a year.
Chris Weiss is a certified CNC Machinist from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Chris also has a certification from WorkSafeBC in WCB Occupational First Aid Level 1.
Chris Weiss reports to Simon Beyer, CTO. They work with René Pedroza - Research Scientist, Pancreas Tissue Engineering, Henrik Persson - Microfluidics Engineer, and Usama Khan - Lead Software Engineer.
