Mike Smith

Mike Smith is currently an AstroAI Fellow at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, where they develop open machine learning models for astrophysics. They served as the Director of AI at Aspia Space from 2022 to 2025, leading the development of innovative AI products like the cloud removal algorithm ClearSky. As a co-founder of Aspia Space, Mike contributed to significant advancements in the application of deep learning to Earth observation imagery. They completed a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Hertfordshire and have also held positions as a visiting researcher and lecturer, further enriching their expertise in the field. Currently, they are a member of UniverseTBD and have been involved in various academic and research initiatives.
