Michael Giarrusso

Michael Giarrusso is an experienced journalist and leader in newsgathering, currently serving as the Deputy Director of Newsgathering at The Associated Press since June 2010, overseeing global coverage across various sectors including sports, business news, and health/science. Previously, Michael held positions as the Assistant Managing Editor and Global Sports Editor, managing AP's sports operations worldwide. Michael has also served as Chief of Bureau for Arizona/New Mexico and has held roles with the Associated Press since 1996, including Director of State News/South and Georgia News Editor. In addition to a vice chair position at the News Media Coalition and membership on the Board of Directors for SNTV, Michael’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from The University of Georgia.
