Michael Phillis

Reporter

Michael Phillis is an experienced reporter specializing in environmental and water issues, currently working at The Associated Press since August 2021. Prior to this role, Michael served as an environmental and energy reporter for Law360 from November 2016 to August 2021. Michael also worked as an Energy and Environmental Reporting Fellow at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where important research on ExxonMobil's climate change knowledge was conducted. Michael's early journalistic career includes positions at PhillyVoice, The Bergen Record, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Salem News, Lexington Minuteman, and The Daily Collegian, covering a wide range of topics from local government to environmental issues. Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism from Columbia University and dual Bachelor's degrees in Journalism and Marketing from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
