Ravi Nessman

Ravi Nessman has over 25 years of experience in journalism, currently serving as the Global Director of Text at The Associated Press since 2014, where responsibilities include coordinating global text reports and developing new products and strategies. Previously, as South Region News Director, Ravi led diverse coverage across the southeastern United States, focusing on significant events such as the killings of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. Ravi has also held key roles including South Asia Chief of Bureau, where management included a staff covering six countries, and Sri Lanka Bureau Chief, overseeing reports during the civil war. Notable earlier positions include Jerusalem Correspondent and Southern Africa News Editor, alongside reporting and editing for The Associated Press in various U.S. cities. Educational credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Nieman Fellowship from Harvard University.
