Ryan J. Foley is an experienced correspondent working for the Associated Press since January 2004, primarily covering state and national news in Iowa, including politics, law enforcement, and higher education. Previously, Ryan was part of a team at the Wisconsin Capitol, focusing on state government and serving as the lead reporter on the University of Wisconsin System. As a general newsperson, Ryan covered diverse topics in Iowa, such as major trials and natural disasters. In 2023, Ryan contributed as a correspondent for FRONTLINE PBS on a documentary examining police use of force, which has been nominated for two Emmy awards. Ryan started the journalism career with an internship at The Wall Street Journal, covering government agencies and producing stories on consumer protection issues. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Iowa.
