Sydney Schaefer

Sydney Schaefer is an accomplished photo editor and reporter with extensive experience in journalism and photography. Currently serving as a Photo Editor at The Associated Press in New York since July 2022, Sydney selects and prepares file photos for the AP wire and curates photo selections for top stories. Previous roles include Staff Reporter at SurvivorNet, where Sydney authored and edited numerous cancer-related articles, and Assistant Managing Editor at Watertown Daily Times, where story management and social media presence were key responsibilities. With a background that encompasses multimedia management and photography, Sydney has contributed to various publications, including Billy Penn, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and JUMP Magazine, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Temple University.
