Jim Ormond

Jim Ormond is a seasoned communications professional with a diverse background in media relations, public relations, and documentary filmmaking. Currently serving as Communications Manager at the Association for Computing Machinery since October 2015, Jim Ormond specializes in promoting advancements in computing through news releases and media advisories. Previous roles include Director at The Local History Channel, where significant projects included award-winning documentaries aired on PBS, and Interim Public Relations Manager at the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, focusing on diversity in STEM. Jim Ormond also brings extensive experience from a decade as Manager of Communications and Media at ArtsWestchester and four years as Communications Director for the New York State Assembly, where communication strategies addressed environmental conservation. Jim Ormond holds an MA in Philosophy from the University at Albany and a BA in Spanish and Philosophy from the State University of New York at Oswego, complemented by language studies in Madrid.
