Laurent DESTRAIT has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Laurent started their career as a Mechanical Design Engineer at ARIANESPACE in 1992. Laurent then worked as a Safety Engineer at CEA in 1993. From 1994 to 1996, they served as the North and Ile de France Regional Director at VINCI Energies. Laurent joined AREVA in 1996 and held multiple roles, including Chief Technical Officer and Head of D&D Unit. Laurent worked for BOUYGUES Construction as Deputy Director- D&D Department from 2005 to 2006 and later served as the Director of the D&D Department at COMEX NUCLEAIRE from 2006 to 2009. Laurent worked as a Senior Expert at INOVIA EXPERT from 2009 to 2013, before joining ASSYSTEM. At ASSYSTEM, they have served as the Director of Design Office, Director of Operations, and currently holds the position of Large Scale Project / Business Unit Director.

Laurent DESTRAIT earned a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from Ecole Supérieure des Techniques Aéronautiques et de Construction Automobile from 1989 to 1992. From 1992 to 1993, they obtained another Master's degree in Engineering Genie Atomique with a specialization in Nuclear Safety-Thermohydraulics and Nuclear Physics from INSTN. Prior to this, they attended CPGE from 1987 to 1989 and received a degree in Sup-Spé. In 1986, they achieved the 1er accessit in Mécanique from CONCOURS GÉNÉRAL.
