Alexander Smith

Alexander Smith, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at AstraZeneca, specializing in bacteriology, metabolomics, and mouse models of infection, with a focus on next-generation antimicrobial therapies. They completed their PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where they conducted independent research on C. difficile pathogenesis, resulting in a publication in *Nature*. Prior to their doctoral studies, Alexander held research assistant positions at Penn State University and University College Dublin, and completed a summer research internship at Duke University.
