Anthony J. Metrano

Associate Principal Scientist

Anthony J. Metrano is an accomplished chemist with extensive experience in medicinal chemistry and research. From May 2009 to May 2011, Metrano conducted undergraduate research in the laboratory of Dr. Brian R. at the Department of Chemistry, College of the Holy Cross. Metrano's professional journey includes significant roles at AstraZeneca, where Anthony served as Associate Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist in the Medicinal Chemistry and Adaptive Chemistry Team from July 2024 to February 2022 and January 2022 to July 2024, respectively, focusing on reaction optimization and high-throughput experimentation. Following a postdoctoral tenure as an NIH Fellow at Princeton University from July 2017 to February 2020, Metrano was an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and held various teaching positions at Yale University, including Head Teaching Fellow and Graduate Teaching Fellow for organic chemistry laboratories. Metrano earned a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Yale University in 2016 and possesses a Bachelor of Arts in ACS-Certified Chemistry and Biology, graduating summa cum laude with honors from the College of the Holy Cross.
