Barbara Nel

Barbara Nel is a seasoned marketing and commercial leader with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as the Global Head of Marketing at AstraZeneca since March 2011. Nel's previous roles at AstraZeneca included Country President for the African Cluster and Commercial Director for the Middle East, Turkey & Africa. Prior experience includes positions at Sanofi as Business Unit Manager and National Sales Director and at Chiesi Group as National Hospital Sales Manager. Nel's educational background features a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry from the University of Pretoria, along with courses in Managerial Finance at The London School of Economics and Enterprise Leadership at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
