Cecilia Borestrom is an accomplished scientist and team leader with over 20 years of experience in molecular biology and drug discovery. Currently serving as the Director of Discovery Biology at AstraZeneca, Cecilia leads a diverse team in developing cellular models and assays to support early drug discovery. Cecilia's previous roles include Post Doctoral Scientist, where they generated a kidney model using CRISPR-Cas9, and Head of Unit at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, overseeing a unit focused on regenerative medicine and stem cell research. Cecilia received a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Biomedicine from the University of Gothenburg and earned a PhD in Medicine there as well.
