Graham Smith

Graham Smith is a seasoned professional in the pharmaceutical industry with extensive experience in medicinal chemistry, data science, and artificial intelligence. Currently serving as a Senior Director at AstraZeneca since April 2017, Graham has held various leadership positions, including Director and Team Leader in the Data Science and AI domains. Prior to this, Graham worked at Merck from November 2009 to March 2017 as a Director of Chemistry, overseeing matrix project teams and leading automation initiatives in medicinal chemistry for oncology and other therapeutic areas. Graham's earlier experience includes a role as Associate Director at Pfizer, where responsibilities involved delivering active pharmaceutical ingredients for early clinical studies, as well as serving as a Senior Scientist at Sanofi-Aventis and a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Ohio State University. Graham holds a BSc and PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Nottingham.
