Marcello Marelli

Marcello Marelli is a Principal Scientist at AstraZeneca since December 2014, leading a team focused on developing expression technology for precise bioconjugations, applicable to next-generation antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), nanoparticles, and protein-conjugates. Previously, Marcello served as a Senior Scientist/Associate Principal Scientist at AstraZeneca, where innovative technologies for protein conjugates and antibody discovery were developed. Prior roles include Director of Cell and Molecular Biology at Allozyne Inc., where Marcello advanced the integration of non-natural amino acids for protein therapeutics, and Consultant at Aerotek. Early career experience includes positions at Homestead Clinical and as a Post-doctoral fellow at the Institute for Systems Biology, contributing to disease diagnostics and cellular characterization. Marcello holds a PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Alberta and a BSc in Experimental Pathology from the University of St Andrews.
