Rick Vega is an accomplished clinical scientist with extensive experience in early clinical development, particularly in the fields of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolism research. Currently serving as the Director of Early Clinical Research at AstraZeneca since August 2020, Rick has previously held positions as a Senior Research Scientist at AdventHealth and as a Research Assistant Professor and Laboratory Director at Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute. Earlier roles include Principal Scientist at Catabasis Pharmaceuticals, Research Investigator at Novartis, Postdoctoral Fellow at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and Graduate Student at Washington University in St. Louis, where Rick earned a Ph.D. in Molecular Cell Biology. Rick also holds a B.S. in Molecular Biology from The University of Texas at Austin.
