Thomas Naessens is currently an Associate Principal Scientist and Biology Lead for Oligonucleotide Therapeutics at AstraZeneca, a position held since 2021. Thomas earned a PhD in Biotechnology from Ghent University in 2012, where their research focused on the functional dynamics of resident alveolar macrophages in a mouse model of allergic asthma. Prior to their current role, Thomas worked as a Senior Research Scientist in Biomarker Discovery at AstraZeneca from 2018 to 2021 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University from 2012 to 2014. Thomas holds a Master's degree in Biotechnology from Ghent University, graduated magna cum laude in 2006.
