Yichen Zhang is a skilled statistician and machine learning researcher currently affiliated with BC Cancer since April 2019, where research focuses on interpretable latent variable models for high-dimensional biology. Significant contributions include developing a deep-learning-based probabilistic topic model and creating a Python package for single-cell data analysis, both resulting in a first-author publication in Cell Genomics and a presentation at the ISBM conference. Concurrently, Yichen serves as a senior statistical consultant at The University of British Columbia, assisting clients with research proposals and data analyses, and has experience as a senior teaching assistant for statistics courses. Previous experience includes a biostatistician role at NanoString Technologies, where collaboration with a pharmaceutical company involved implementing Bayesian models. Yichen holds a PhD in Statistics from The University of British Columbia, an MS in Biostatistics from the University of Washington, and a BS in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Wuhan University.
