Minglu Xia has a diverse range of work experience. Starting in 2010, Minglu undertook an internship with Shanghai Heavy Machinery Plant Company Ltd. During this role, Minglu conducted experiments to identify sources of undesired vibration and noise on machine tools and optimized the geometric dimensions of key structures.
In 2011, Minglu began working as a PhD student at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. During this time, Minglu set up a torsional vibration platform and conducted research on the heat transfer methods and characteristics of NiTi wire during martensitic phase transitions.
After completing the PhD program in 2015, Minglu stayed at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a Visiting Scholar. In this role, Minglu focused on fabricating nanocrystalline NiTi and investigating the grain size effects on its mechanical properties.
Minglu then took on a part-time role as a lecturer at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2018. As a course instructor, Minglu taught MECH 3030 Mechanisms of Machinery and covered topics such as position, velocity, and acceleration analysis of planar linkages.
Currently, Minglu works at ASTRI as an Associate Principal Engineer. The main responsibilities include FMEA and customer support in the application of Point-of-Load power modules, reliability assessment and failure analysis in the development of SiC-based power converters, and processing and packaging in the development of GaN-based power converters.
Minglu Xia completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where they studied from 2007 to 2011. Minglu further pursued their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology between 2011 and 2015.
