James Cross

James Cross is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in systems engineering and ground segment systems development. Currently serving as the Ground Segment Systems Team Lead at Astroscale since January 2023, James oversees the creation and maintenance of critical systems for space debris removal. Previously, James held roles at Airbus Defence and Space as a Senior Ground Systems Engineer and at Thales as a Systems Engineering Consultant, where responsibilities included ground system design and technical leadership for communication subsystems. James also contributed as a Senior Systems Engineer at BAE Systems, leading a team to enhance system architecture and configuration control. Early career experience includes process engineering at Siemens Magnet Technology. James holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University.
