Jonathan Toomey is currently the Mechanical Group Manager at Astroscale, beginning in May 2023, while simultaneously pursuing a PhD in Astrophysics at the University of Hertfordshire since September 2019, focusing on research related to star-forming regions in the Andromeda galaxy. Prior to this, Jonathan served at MBDA as a Missile Architect from December 2018 to May 2023, leading teams on R&D projects and managing risk and resources. Jonathan also held roles as Lead Analysis Engineer at MBDA and Airbus Defence and Space, overseeing mechanical analysis and structural planning for major projects. Jonathan's early career includes service as an Army Officer and roles in the Royal Marines and Royal Irish Regiment, along with engineering experience on significant satellite missions at EADS Astrium. Jonathan holds multiple degrees in physics and astronautics from prominent universities.
