Michael Spears

Deputy Chief Pilot at ATAC

Michael Spears has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Michael started their career at VMFA(AW)-332 in 2003, where they held various positions as Scheduler, Aviation Safety Officer, and Powerline Officer until 2006. After that, they worked at Commander Naval Air Forces as a TACAIR Integration Manager from 2006 to 2008. Following this, Michael served as a Future Operations Planner at I MEF Fwd from 2008 to 2009 and as a Training Officer at VMFA(AW)-121 from 2009 to 2011. Michael then joined VMGR-352 as the Harvest HAWK Program Manager from 2011 to 2013 and subsequently served as an Executive Officer/Aviation Maintenance Officer at VMFA-314 from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, Michael transitioned to the military, working as the TACAIR Integration Manager for Commander Naval Air Forces, where they advised the CEO level equivalent and coordinated agreements related to Marine Aviation Operations. Michael then became the Commanding Officer at Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Miramar from 2016 to 2018. After leaving the military, Michael joined United Airlines as a First Officer from 2019 to 2023 and is currently working at ATAC as the Director of Operations/Mirage F1 Pilot. In addition, they also hold the position of Deputy Chief Pilot at ATAC.

Michael Spears attended the University of Delaware from 1996 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Engineering. Later, in 2009, they completed their Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance at Touro University.
