Brian Lau

Brian Lau is a highly experienced professional with a strong background in quantitative finance and risk management. Currently serving as a Senior Analyst in Corporate Affairs at ATCO since November 2022, Brian also works as a Freelance Quant and Machine Learning Engineer at NegativeGamma, focusing on risk management and quantitative finance consulting. Previous experience includes adapting machine learning models for the energy market with Boost Energy Ventures, and serving as a Senior Risk Analyst at Superior Gas Liquids, where market exposure analysis was key. Brian's career began at ATCO Power Canada, where roles spanned from Quantitative Risk Analyst to Real Time Trader, culminating in the development of robust risk management systems and trading strategies that significantly contributed to company profits. Brian holds a Master of Science in Computational Finance and Risk Management from the University of Washington, as well as degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from the University of Calgary.
