Grace O'Connell

Grace O'Connell, PhD, is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at UC Berkeley and the director of the Berkeley Biomechanics Laboratory, focusing on biomechanics research with an emphasis on musculoskeletal applications. They have a robust background in managing diverse teams and a multi-million dollar budget, alongside a commitment to inclusive education practices. Previously an associate professor, Grace has held various leadership roles, including Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence, and continues to contribute to the field as a biomechanics expert consultant and advisory board member for multiple organizations. Grace is also an avid rock climber.
