Joseph Cohen

Joseph Cohen serves as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Athene since April 2019, overseeing a legal and compliance team of over 100 professionals, with a focus on corporate governance, ESG, AI, and data protection, as well as government relations. Previously, Joseph held various roles at MetLife from July 1994 to March 2019, including Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel, where significant responsibilities included advising on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and restructuring legal teams in the EMEA region. Joseph also taught as an Adjunct Professor at Baruch College. Joseph holds a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University.
