Bart Willems

Bart Willems has had a long and varied career in the technology and science industries. Bart began their career in 1995 as a Research Assistant at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. In 2000, they became a Teaching Consultant and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Open University. From 2003 to 2009, they worked at Northwestern University as a Computer System Administrator, Postdoctoral Research Associate, and Part-Time Lecturer in Physics and Astronomy. Bart solved fundamental astrophysical problems, published over 30 scientific papers, presented at international conferences, and supervised student research projects. In 2009, they became Technology Director of HPC at Atipa Technologies.

Bart Willems obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences from KU Leuven in 1993, followed by an M.Sc. in Mathematical Sciences from the same institution in 1995. Bart then proceeded to earn a Ph.D. in Theoretical Astrophysics from KU Leuven in 2000. In 2018, they obtained a BeeGFS Certified System Engineer certification from ThinkParQ.
