History / Ownership: Atlantic Towing is a part of JDI Integrated Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI) and has been in the marine service business for over 50 years. We have over 400 office and sea staff, with operations in harbour and terminal towage, coastal tug and barge, salvage, offshore support and shipping agency operations. Atlantic Towing predominately operates in the ports and coastal waters of Eastern Canada, the Arctic, Latin America, the Caribbean, the North Sea, and on a spot basis world-wide. Based in Atlantic Canada, our backyard produces the worlds highest tides, thickest fog, and some of the fiercest weather on the planet as we are well adapted to harsh conditions and proficient in remote locations. Over the years, Atlantic Towing has constantly expanded its operations in new areas and modernizing its fleet. In the 1990s we embarked on a program of upgrading our harbour tug fleet with the building of a series of modern Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugs at the Irving Shipbuilding shipyard in East Isle, PEI. Several tugs were constructed over the last two decades and today fourteen ASDs remain in the Atlantic Towing harbour & terminal fleet. This includes the addition of three 72t bollard pull ASDs dedicated to the Canaport LNG terminal in Saint John, NB, as well as four new ASDs working in Trinidad & Tobago at the Atlantic LNG facility. In 1998, Atlantic Towing entered the offshore market with two new UT722 Anchor Handling Tug and Supply (AHTS) vessels built at Irvings Halifax Shipyard. The Offshore fleet has grown steadily over the last decade to presently include eight AHTS vessels and one Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) operating in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Atlantic Towing has become the Canadian market leader in Offshore Oil and Gas support and continues to grow the fleet to meet customer needs. With our most recent contract, we will be adding an additional four PSVs to our fleet to work offshore Newfoundland. The objective of Atlantic Towing is to maintain our status as a firstclass vessel operator, providing high quality marine services within a business culture where the health and safety of our personnel, as well as protection of the environment, take priority over any other considerations. Operating Areas: Our Offshore Supply Vessel division has been operating in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia since 1998. In the Canadian offshore we have worked for all of the operators that are now engaged on Canadas East Coast; ExxonMobil, Husky Energy, Suncor, Statoil (& Norsk Hydro), Canadian Superior and Marathon. As well, we have operated extensively in the international market place providing services to oil companies, service companies and seismic companies. We have worked in the North Sea Spot Market for clients including Shell, BP, Nexen, Transocean, Petro-Canada, Hereema and others. Current Fleet Details: ATLs fleet consists of nine Offshore Supply Vessels; seven Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels, one Platform Supply Vessel and one Multi-Purpose Standby Rescue Vessel. Three of our AHTSs designs are UT 722 and two are UT 722 L. All are ice classed with DPII and FiFi. All of these vessels include the latest in technology and are outfitted for operations offshore Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Our latest acquisition is the Atlantic Merlin, currently working for ExxonMobil. She is a VS4622 and is built to the most modern standards for deep water resupply and anchor handling. She is equipped with all the modern equipment to meet the demands and work scope as envisioned by our clients in the most hostile offshore working environment in the world. Our Platform Supply Vessel built to UT 755L design for EnCana is working offshore Nova Scotia. She was built to a specification on work scope for the client and is currently in the second year of a ten year charter.
