Chris Storey

Chris Storey is the Chief Commercial Officer at Atom bank. Chris has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, including 10 years at Northern Rock where they were responsible for the direction, policy, and strategy of the retail savings business across the UK, Ireland, and Offshore.

During their time at Northern Rock, Chris successfully grew the savings balance and integrated customer insight and behavioural analysis into product and marketing strategy to drive volume, margin improvement, liquidity, and stability of a £20bn savings book. Chris also steered the savings business through unprecedented market change and upheaval during the retail run on the bank.

In 2008-2009, Chris set e-commerce B2B and B2C strategy, ensuring web platform and online promotion aligned with lending, savings, and cross sales objectives. Chris was also responsible for channel development, customer experience and journey, online acquisition including PPC, SEO and advocacy, web analytics, multivariate site testing, and process efficiencies.

From October 2008 to March 2010, Chris served as a Non-executive Director of Northern Rock (Guernsey), providing strategic and commercial direction to the Offshore savings subsidiary. Chris was responsible for ensuring oversight and governance of operations in line with Board agreed policies and regulatory requirements.

Chris Storey attended The University of Manchester, where they received an upper second class degree in financial services. Chris then went on to study corporate and international finance at Durham University, where they received a master's degree with distinction. Finally, they studied economics at Northumbria University, where they received a BA with upper second class honours.
