Fred Scalera

Fred Scalera is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in emergency services, having served as a Municipal and County Coordinator of Emergency Management, Fire Chief, and Deputy Director of the Sheriff’s Department in New Jersey. Scalera has played a pivotal role in developing and overseeing Homeland Security plans to protect residents, creating New Jersey's first county-wide Mass Decontamination Team in response to 9-1-1, and coordinating efforts for Hurricane Katrina. They also served in the New Jersey General Assembly as the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Homeland Security and Preparedness Committee, where they drafted key legislation to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness. Currently, Scalera is the Director of Government Program Management for FirstNet, having previously held roles at AT&T to further emergency services communication. Additionally, Scalera has been a Judge for the Nutley Hall of Fame Committee since 2011 and has served on the Nutley Board of Education.
