Mark Welch

Vice President, R&d at ATUM

Mark Welch has extensive experience in the field of biochemistry. Mark has held various positions in different companies throughout their career. From 1998 to 2002, they worked as a Staff Scientist at Maxygen. Mark then joined Kosan Biosciences in 2003 as a Senior Scientist and worked there until 2004. In 2005, Mark Welch joined Applied Biosystems as a Staff Scientist, where they stayed until 2006. From 2006 to 2015, they worked at DNA2.0 (now ATUM) as the Director of Gene Design. In 2015, they joined ATUM Bio as the Vice President of Research and Development, a position they currently hold.

Mark Welch completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1985 to 1989. Mark then pursued a PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at the University of Colorado Boulder from 1989 to 1996.
