Ian O'Brien is a research audiologist at Audeara and the Director of Musician’s Ears, an audiology clinic focused on the hearing of performing artists, where they have worked since 2020. They are a Principal musician with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, where they have been a member since 2001. Ian holds a PhD in Hearing Conservation for Orchestral Musicians from the University of Sydney and has published extensively on aural health for orchestral musicians. Their past roles include Senior Rehab Audiologist at Neurosensory and participation in the University of Sydney's Sound Practice Project. They have developed a leading hearing conservation strategy for the Queensland Symphony Orchestra still in use today.
