Michael Helgeson has held several roles throughout their work experience. Michael began their career in 2004 as a Production Designer, where they created designs and layouts for various businesses. In 2005, they became a Senior UI Designer at Navic Networks, where they designed user interfaces for interactive television applications. Michael then joined Microsoft in 2008 as a UX Designer through the acquisition of Navic Networks, where they worked on the user interface of an advanced advertising targeting placement engine. In 2010, they joined Aereo as the Director of Software Engineering, and later became the Lead Software Engineer, where they developed a client application for live video streaming and a cloud-based DVR service. In 2015, they joined Rovi Corporation as the Director of Software Development (UX) and User Experience Consultant, where they managed and scaled a team and implemented collaborative improvements. In 2016, they moved to TiVo as the Director of Software Development (UX), where they managed a team and developed new interfaces and features for TV networks and service providers. Currently, they are working at Aura as the VP Platform Engineering and Cloud Architect.
Michael Helgeson attended Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School from 1992 to 1996. Michael then proceeded to the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1996 to 1998, where they pursued a field of study in Mechanical Engineering but did not earn a degree. Later, from 2000 to 2002, Michael obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts with a focus on Graphic Design from Framingham State University.
