Darshana Perera has a diverse work experience in the field of geotechnical and structural engineering. They are currently working at Aurecon as a Lead Geotechnical Engineer since July 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Aurecon as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer from October 2020 to July 2023 and as a Geotechnical Engineer from September 2019 to October 2020. Before joining Aurecon, they worked at GHD as a Geotechnical Engineer from February 2016 to September 2019. They also have experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Wollognong from October 2015 to February 2016. Their earlier experience includes working at Saro Weerasuriya Associates as a Geotechnical & Structural Engineer from April 2008 to March 2011, where they were involved in the analysis and design of structures including foundations and retaining walls. They also worked at Laksiri Cooray Associates as a Structural Engineer from November 2007 to April 2008, where they contributed to the design of a 10-storey hospital building supported by bored and cast-in-situ piles.
Darshana Perera pursued a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa between 2003 and 2007. After that, they went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Wollongong, completing their studies between 2011 and 2015. Prior to their university education, Darshana attended Nalanda College Colombo, although specific years of attendance were not provided.
