Janelle Aitken

Janelle Aitken is an experienced human factors and user-centered design expert currently serving as an Associate in Integrated Design at Aurecon since January 2023. Prior experience includes acting as the Human Factors/User-Centred Research Lead at Defence Technology Agency from August 2011 to December 2022, overseeing a team of researchers and contributing to projects for the New Zealand Defence Force. Janelle also held the position of Acting Director Operations Support at New Zealand Defence Force, focusing on fiscal management and budget oversight. Previously, as Director of Ergodesign Ltd, Janelle provided consultancy services in user-centered design, notably authoring the New Zealand Patient Handling Guideline. Janelle's educational background includes multiple advanced degrees in Human Factors Engineering and Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship from esteemed institutions.
