Why now?

Employee engagement in the UK is in crisis - and it’s costing organisations and the economy dearly.  

Only 10% of workers report feeling ‘actively engaged’ at work, which is one of the lowest rates globally, compared to 13% across Europe and 21% around the world (Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2025). When measured more broadly (including “somewhat engaged” employees), engagement still hovers at 65%, well below pre-pandemic levels. 

Discretionary effort has fallen, with just 51% of workers willing to go above and beyond (CIPD 2023). These trends represent not just a morale issue—it translates into £293.5 billion lost in UK productivity each year (Gallup) and significant turnover, absenteeism, and managerial burnout.
